Palak Paneer – Indian Cottage Cheese Cooked in Spinach Sauce

Palak Paneer is a very popular gravy curry. This is a curry with a good blend of spices cooked with lots of Spinach and Indian Cottage Cheese (Paneer). Palak Paneer tastes great with phulkas, rotis, nan or any other Indian Bread.

Serves – 2
Preparation time – -5 mins
Cooking time – 20 mins

  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Paneer (cubed) – 2 cups
  • Spinach – 3 Cups (tightly packed)
  • Oil – 2 Tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  • onion (Chopped) – 1 Cup
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 tsp
  • Green chillies – to taste
  • Coriander Powder – 2 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • All purpose FLour – 1 tsp
  • Tomato (chopped) – 1 Big
  • Milk – 1 Cup
  • Kasoori Methi – 2 tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1/4 tsp

Procedure : 

Fry paneer in 2 tsp of oil in a pan till they are slightly golden. Set them aside. In the same pan add in spinach and cook till it wilts and cooked. Remove the spinach and tranfer it to the blender jar.

In other wide pan, heat oil, season with cumin seeds, add in onion and cook till they are soft. Then add in green chillies, ginger garlic paste, coriander Powder, Cumin Powder, Red Chilli Powder and fry for 30 secs.

Add in All purpose flour fry for 30 secs follwed by tomato and fry for 4 to 5 mins till they are mashed up and are super soft.

Add this cooked onion and tomato mixture to the jar and blend along with the spinach to a smooth paste. Add this puree into the same pan and cook for 5 mins. Then add in milk, salt fenugreek  leaves, garam masala powder, paneer and cook for 4 mins Serve it with roti or phulkas or any Indian bread.
