Tamarind Peanut Chutney – Video Recipe

Tamarind Peanut chutney is a perfect accompaniment to pongal. I always prefer to make this chutney over the normal coconut chutney or any other chutney. It adds a new dimension to your pongal. Try this recipe when you prepare pongal, you will definitely love it.


Serves – 2 
Preparation time – 5 mins
Cooking time – 5 mins
Waiting time – 5 mins

  • Peanut – 1/3 cup (heaped)
  • Coriander Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind Concentrate or fresh tamarind juice – 1 Tbsp
  • Dry Red chilli Whole – 3 or to taste
  • Salt – to taste

Procedure :

Microwave peanuts for 2 mins bring them out and add coriander seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli and microwave for 1 min. Allow to cool them for 5 to 10 mins Blend to fine powder, then scrap the sides of the blender and add enough water, salt, jaggery, tamarind and blend to a smooth paste. Serve with pongal or with any South Indian  breakfast recipe
