Chana Dal Vada

Chanadal Vadas are spicy and crispy vadas that are usually prepared at every street corner in South India. These are very popular evening snacks especially loved by kids.

Serves – 2
Preparation time – 5 mins
Soaking time – 1 hr
Cooking time – 30 mins
Ingredients

  • Split Bengal gram (Chana dal) (wah, drain and soak in water for 1 hr) – 1 Cup
  • Green Chillies – to taste
  • Salt – to taste
  • Ginger – 1 small piece
  • Garlic – 1 Clove
  • Water – if required
  • Cilantro – 2 Tbsp
  • Oil – to deep fry

Procedure:

Drain all the water from the soaked dal. Add all the ingredients into the food processor or a blender and make a coarse paste. If needed add couple of Tbspns of water.

Heat the oil for deep frying and form the paste into 2 inch round patties. Make a few patties and keep them ready to fry in hot oil. Fry the pattice till they are golden all over. Serve them as is or with some tomato ketchup
