Malabari Paneer Curry

Paneer is cooked in a creamy coconut based gravy.









  • Paneer – 200 gms cut in small cubes
  • Onion – 1 cup finely chopped
  • Oil – 2 Tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic paste – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1/4 tsp
  • White Pepper Powder – 1/2 tsp or to taste
  • Fresh Shredded Coconut – 1/2 cup
  • Cashews – 15 no
  • Ginger – 1 inch piece
  • Green chillies – 4 or to taste
  • Salt – to taste
  • Dry Fenugreek leaves – 1 tsp
  • Cream – 1/4 cup or replace with 1 cup milk.


  • In a frying pan, heat oil and season with cumin seeds.
  • Add in onion while they are cooking make masala paste.
  • Blend coconut, ginger, green chillies, cashews to a smooth paste using some water.
  • Once the onions turn soft, add in garlic paste, coriander powder, white pepper powder and cook for 30 secs.
  • Add in the ground masala paste and cook for 5 mins  or until you feel nice aroma from the coconut  paste.
  • Add water, salt, pepper kasoori methi, garam masala powder and bring the mixture to a boil (approx 5 mins on medium)
  • Finally add cream and boil for no longer than 2 mins.
  • Serve with roti or any Indian bread or jeera rice.
